History
Laneham is referred to as having clerical remininisences due to the fact that for centuries the owners of Laneham were the Archbishops of York and one of them, Thomas de Corbridge died there in 1304. Within St Peters Church a fine monument exists of Ellis and Gervase Markham, who once owned estates in Laneham and Dunham. Gervase was a captain of horse in ‘Irelande and Ye Lowe Countries.’ He died on January 16th 1636 and was buried at Laneham among the tombs of his family.

Information coming soon regarding Laneham in the Doomsday Book.
